Resolution: Duplicate
In my opinion attempting to perform schema validation on a non-namespace-aware
DOM is always a user error. Schema validation requires namespaces support and
is only defined for XML documents which have an infoset. This implies both
well-formedness and namespace conformance. The second is not guaranteed by a
non-namespace-aware DOM. The most Xerces should be doing here is reporting a
more helpful error message. See XERCESJ-1163 for more discussion on this issue
